First of all, I would put it in a 10 gallon tank so that way you can stick a lot of things in it or on it. You want to keep the room temp at about 75-80 Fahrenheit and then stick a heating pad on the side of the tank. NEVER put it under the tank (that could burn your scorpion if it would burrow and get caught) That way it can go to a cool side of the tank or a hot side of the tank. Also put a hide or a rock by the heater that way it can feel secure and warm. I don't know if this is your first scorpion but if it is, I would highly recommend you not getting it. That is one of the deadliest scorpions in the world, if not, the deadliest. They are only for very experienced keepers. I would suggest to go for an Asian Forest, Emperor, Red Claw, Dictator, or a Giant Desert Hairy scorpion.

It’s not my first scorpion. I keep leiurus quinquestriatus, Hetermotrus spinifier and hadrurus arizonensis, all of which I’ve kept at room temp around 70 without any issues. I’m more of a tarantula guy, I’m just trying to get an idea of what an acceptable temperature for Androctonus australis is, I’m getting into scorpions more so lately and was thinking about adding a few.

I can assure you that your scorpion will be much much happier and healthier if put him in a warmer place at around 75-80.

Do you just leave the 25 watt on full blast all the time? It’s a silly acrylic enclosure, I’ll most likely just pick up a 8x8x8 exo terra like you
Nope, I have my lamps hooked to a dimming thermostat otherwise I could bake the scorpions alive, I have the day temps set at 115F and night set at 80F. The reason I have my day temps set that high is because of the close proximity of thermostat's probe to the lamps to compensate. I tie the probes to the inside of the screen tops that way it is beyond the reach of the scorpions themselves. To get the proper temps you are going have figure out temp checks with infrared temp gun and thermometer because likely you are going have different ambient temperatures than I do.

Do you think a 50 watt infrared, or ceramic heat emitter on the exo terra

I highly recommend a thermostat so you do not bake the scorpions accidently but yes it can be done. The temps listed in one of my previous posts are perfect.

I have a dimmer but not a thermostat, I just figured a 40 or 50 watt might get it into ok temperatures to leave on 24/7 for an 8x8x8 exo terra? What wattage do you think might accomplish that? Thanks for the help!
