Well i have been working in the bush of North Ontario again this summer and i have seen plenty of nice looking spiders, but today i was looking for a 5" grinder to use on my boat trailor and i came Accross a few of these guys, the first one i tried to catch was at lest 4" maybe bigger, but when i tried to grab it with work gloves on it got away, the second one i seen i threw off my gloves and grabed it bare handed, NOT a good idea, freaking thing sunk his fangs into me  let just say i can speak pretty good french now, Heres the Wolf spider

i have seen larger but this is the only one i have managed to catch, iam pretty sure its a gravid female. its front legs are up on the glass not flat, so iam sure its 3"

Take a look at the Dolomedes thread. I'm no expert with these, but that looks like D. tenebrosus to me.

They like a vertical perch. A piece of bark works well.
