My LPS had this heavily discounted 18x18x24 that the doors were broken and replaced not perfectly and the owner is friendly with me and I got for $60!

Thibk I’ll probably build it out for Ranitomeya group! And do a no substrate: filter foam build as it’s heavy enough already haha. 74A62E03-B193-46FD-AD7D-DEBCE9962F23.jpeg

Have noi clue how I’ll design it at this point though 🤷‍♂️

Ugh, making me envious. I was in process of reviving a 40B (first set up in over 7 years) and sprayed the back with plasti-dip. Left it outside to cure and I'm pretty sure either the UPS or the FedEx guy busted the back of the tank by accidentally knocking a flowerpot into it.

Now it just holds my scratched and dented rescue bromeliads. Really rained on my parade.

I'll be living vicariously through you now, thanks.

Those poor frogs won’t get the luxury tower?!?
You know they will!! I only meant that I won’t do as intense background build as my long vivs….that took me way too long!

I've no doubt you'll make it count...
At least you get it

oh dang that really sucks 😭 I’d be really frustrated if that happened to me on a viv I planned to build 😩

Yep, I'm so frustrated about it, I quit. Might just do a nano cube instead. Gonna need time to rebuild motivation. Hopeful that you inspire me with what you come up with. I got high hopes for you based on your other threads.

You can’t be a slumlord with PDFs, you’re going to have to change your ways!

Found this nice piece of oak with the grain twists in the forest that I think has sparked the beginning of the design phase for this tank. I am thinking since theres such a deep section below the doors that I could go for a much deeper pond section compared to my more shallow builds, this would allow me to also add some other aquatic invertebrates like neocardina in possibly, or without for just a nice deeper look! The height of the tank will be nice, I can grow moss, and epiphytic ferns, orchids, bromeliads all along the wood rising up, and on other pieces yet to be decided.

Right now, and this is only right now it'll surely change, but I have done so many expanding foam builds, but if I do decide to build this for Geosesarma, I may go the route of doing a completely clay/mud background like the banks of the streams they are found living in. I have long been dreaming of, aside from creating a beautiful viv, wanted to try and mimick this clay walls they burrow in. Could be fun, or could be a disaster, only time will tell and the ever changing tides of my attention deficit minds ideas for vivariums!

Just an idea, as I have zero experience with this, but would super glue on the back of that cracked glass, followed by a layer of expanding foam on the full inside make it workable? You wouldn’t be able to see through the back, but could that save the enclosure?
