...and both of the mealworms had spookily disappeared by the time I looked back. Everyone ate, which is nice, apart from my Pachistopelmabromelicola who arrived two days ago. Granted the mealworm piece was at a wierd angle at the base of their cork bark, so tomorrow I'll cut up a nice juicy one...
I already have a H. pulchripes and several Pokies.
If I can find one... they come up sometimes but at the moment - nada.
I have the diversipes and D. exilis looks kind of brown to me but I will look into the P. bromelicola. I think I'll stay with Tapis when it comes to smaller arboreals...
...only really speak to the "rarer" species I have. Many of my "rares" are smaller arboreals, so you can look for things like Pachistopelmabromelicola (despite having BROMELIAD in the name, my juvenile female hates plants), Dolichothele exilis (fun hunter to watch, dwarf species), Iridopelma...
They don't really burrow.
I think they are just more opportunistic than other Avics/related. I've had one in a Kritter Keeper (with foliage, of course) for a few years and she made her home on the ground behind her bark, but without ever burrowing. I have two others in an Avicularia setup and...
...like my P. irminia or in a terrestrial juvenile enclosure from Jamie’s Tarantulas (basically a 4x4x4 acrylic box) like my Pachistopelmabromelicola. @cold blood , do they burrow at all? If they do, I should use the deli cup, so I can add more substrate. If not, the terrestrial enclosure...
...oh and everything in between. The only reason i don't have more arboreal tarantulas is simply because of a lack of space. I do love the 4 i have though as they are simply stunning species pachistopelmabromelicola, A metallica, A braunshauseni and P cambridgei which is a species everyone...
I was just made aware of these, they look great and seem like very interesting T's. For my first bioactive setup I want a bromeliad with a bromelicola (and a white orchid setup for Hymenopus coronatus - Orchid mantis).
Are the bromelicolas hard to keep? Like an arboreal?
Difficult to assess rarity for me, but here are the ones that I have that I don't hear about here all that often:
Pachistopelmabromelicola (juvenile female)
Lasiodora itabunae (juvenile male)
Iridopelma zorodes (sling)
Grammostola actaeon (sling, juvenile, who knows it grows slower than molasses)
My current wishlist (though I am in no hurry to acquire any of them atm)
Acanthoscurria geniculata
Cyriocosmus ritae
PachistopelmabromelicolaPachistopelma rufonigrum
Psalmopoeus irminia
Psalmopoeus pulcher
Psalmopoeus every species
....and pretty much ALL of the arboreals, NW (and OW when I...
