The black within the exuvia makes me think it might be a cyst.
This is the best example I've found, made by our very own @Liquifin
Also the best footage I've seen of the "heartbeat" ❤️
I hope I'm wrong but I looks like the book lung has prolapsed.
I've been nursing an unknown injury or cyst in the first set of book lungs for about 3 or 4 molts now as well. One molt it looked like the whole lung had prolapsed, the next it looked better. She has been acting fine the whole...
Sorry for your loss. 😔 My suspicion would also be either an old injury or a cyst. If there was too much vertical space in the old enclosure she could have fallen quite a while ago and the injury wasn't a problem until she was preparing to molt.
...how that is subjective.
Who’s to say they will even pair well.
if i were in this situation, i might still try it. Might. Because if she was wild, she might still have bred.
would you be willing to care for the slings? Imagine if they were to survive and not have cyst.
dont listen to me...
That looks like a cyst. I'm not sure but I think it'll be okay to breed her since they usually remove it with a molt.
Although I wouldn't breed a female that hasn't molted in years. You should always try to breed a female that has recently molted to lessen the chance of her molting after pairing.
...i don’t want to over worry @MrsHaas. but we won’t know until a culture is done. Which is why i recommend asking a vet for a swab kit.
if it is cyst/abcess, then how ironic other tarantula getting it. I dont think abcess spread like that.
it is true that sun exposure helps with ringworm...
The original post is still up on my timeline, she had about 3 molts, first one was really rough, second one she was looking better, and the third one she looks amazing.
P cambridgei may be rubbing against something in the enclosure causing chafing.
Or more likely be a Cyst.
Hard to tell from the Picture.
Hopefully P. Cam will Improve Next Molt.
Do you have the original post with the cysts/abrasions so can see the before and after? I have a T blondi that had a massive cyst that when moulted, looked a lot better but still evident, so wondering how many moults your T went through etc. Thanks for the update, she looks stunning.
...mold on this board. But youd have to look for yourself to see if it matches yours. I recently posted pics of this i need to find it.
as for a cyst? I need to look at more photos on the board. Usualy them seem to have a “bigger” impact physicaly. But hey, i dont know that much on tarantula...
It could be a Cyst, but its hard to tell from the pictures.
i hope not.
theres not much you can do if it is a cyst other than not overfeed and hope for a healing next molt.
...right - from the looks of her, she doesn't really need to eat, and it's usually recommended to feed sparingly when there's an issue like a cyst, anyway - no need to put extra pressure on the abdomen by continuing to feed. All you can really do is keep her hydrated and wait to see if she'll...
...She doesn’t seem to be interested in food atm and I was kind of worried that she’s a bit big to eat a meal and I was worried about her bursting to be quite honest … hearing that this is a cyst is heartbreaking as I had just purchased her not too long ago I really really hope I don’t lose her :,(
