Out of curiosity, do you have reptiles in your reptile room that you currently use the Clorox wipes or diluted bleach to clean with? I'm wondering if you use a bleach product around your reptiles safely and just concerned about doing the same to a tarantula.
Can we back up here? @angry banjo 66 By cleaning the room, you intend to sterilize it? From word go, chlorine bleach is a lousy cleaning agent, worse than useless. Big clunky ineffective molecules that can't even effectively wet surfaces. And it's noxious. As others have mentioned, well...
thats up to you honestly, its really hard to say when to call it. def see if the extra water and heat help, if she isnt eating or drinking and isnt improving she might die on her own soon anyway to be perfectly honest.
...put down or just a waiting game. At this point i am fairly certain its some sort of poisoning. The only thing it could be is dawn dish soap or bleach not that it matters really. I now have 2 small water dishes on the ends and a big one in the middle with a heat pad set with thermostat set on...

Won't remove pesticides or other chemicals unless they are susceptible to oxidizers and all chemicals that are persistent in the environment are resistant to oxidization. Best bet is a toothbrush and a strong detergent like laundry soap to remove them.
...time trying to remove contaminants that aren't there... Now, if you found a rock in a neighborhood park and it's likely that it's been exposed to pesticides or fertilizers, then I would suggest soaking it in a diluted bleach solution and rinsing thoroughly before introducing it to your...
...so minutes and under direct supervision). But baking and/or boiling rocks seems somewhat inadvisable, given the risk of explosion. Using the bleach solution method is another choice, but I thought it would be worth availing myself of the collective wisdom evident on these boards.

...decisions that would have been entirely preventable with just a little bit more care taken, like flipping over a molting spider, or spraying bleach on the walls of the enclosure to get poop off the glass, or falling asleep on the couch with a tarantula on their chest, or impulsively digging...
...rooms of the house that you or people you live with are more likely to use products that could be harmful. So, if you’re going to be keeping your T in there, make sure it won’t be exposed to bleach or other cleaners that produce fumes, or to hairsprays, spray deodorant, colognes and perfumes...
What a unique idea for a viv ! Bet it looks so cool 😎
I take it you've grown mushrooms before? Have you heard of or used the blow up mushroom boxes? I saw one on a vid I was watching after reading this post the other day . The girl was growing what looked like chestnut mushroom in a blow up...
You'd be much better off using a glass container (like an aquarium with a single piece glass lid), & a 1:1 bleach/water solution. Plastic is prone to static charge, which will actually attract airborne spores, & alcohol (unless you're using something like reagent grade 2-propanol) isn't...
...but they can tear through it quite easily once they realize it isn't a solid barrier.
As for the enclosures they came in, I soaked them in bleach and boiling hot water and left them in the sun for a few weeks. I haven't used them for anything else yet so they're just sitting outside in the...
...it into my collection.
I'll maintain quarantine until I get enough time to do three rehouses. I'll burn the substrate (figuratively) and bleach the enclosures.
I tried to identify the bug earlier because I'm freaking out about phorid flies now, but this bug hops and doesn't fly like the...
When I worked with aquatic animals and reptiles, we had 2 tubs for dipping used tools. One for bleach solution, the other for sodium thiosulfate to neutralize it followed by a rinse. Implementing a permanent disinfection protocol for tools is probably something I'm going to look into from here...
