Southern Black Widow (♀ Latrodectus mactans)

I was delighted to find this black widow, as I haven't seen one in years and was beginning to worry that the invasive brown widows had completely displaced the native black widows in my area. (After taking this photo, I fed her a small dubia roach.)
I remember being able to find 1 under each playground cinderblock 26+ years ago. Only found one in the past 6 years. Brother took some stock photo shots of it, then she went back. We need a campaign to inform people that they are important. I love orb weavers and all but having just weavers and that's it? bleh.
