Lycosa tarantula

This female is carrying her massive eggsac. Handled by me
Guys the species is literally Lycosa tarantula, its what brought about the tarantella and gave these larger spiders their name.
 
Yeah I realize my comment was poorly worded, it is indeed a wolf spider. I meant to clarify but it ended up sounding really condescending now that I read it over, my bad.
 
I love Lycosidae, but don't get to see that many of them in the city and they're not easy to find on my spider hunting expeditions. I used to have them in my bathtub when I lived in the burbs the odd time. I was always afraid of the cats finding them before I could save them from the tub.
They have exceptional eyesight. When they look at you... they're really looking at you.
Love them.
