Verrucosa arenata

Triangle Orb Weaver/ Arrowhead Spider locally caught in Southern Illinois pretty common but a beautiful Spider
hey I'm sure you could buy some from someone with a license if you really wanted a few! they are gorgeous aren't they?

Ack ack! These ladies and their southern cousins in East Texas are the ones that invariably choose to run their webs across paths and trails after dark, and thus end up doing the "there's a spider on my face!" dance with us when walking through the woods or garden at night! We aim the flashlight on the ground to avoid copperheads, and end up with spiders in the face and hair. And they end up with a tattered web and no dinner. It's a lose-lose proposition!

And you end up with a poor spider waving her tiny fists in the air and shouting expletives at you, for ruining her home and dinner, in a tiny spider voice that you can't even hear!
;)

the woods I caught her in are were actually about to be torn down so she wasn't happy with me but I saved her some grief :)
