Its temporary. I dont use the heat pads as ambient temp is about 70 degrees.
I have a slightly larger enclosure on the way so i can add some natural foliage for fresh air an such

Thats the first hide i ever made rather then bought so im super excited about that and she likes it so far it seems.

@Abyss very jealous of your metallica to be honest. hope you never even considered using that heat pad, does much more harm than good. plants are nice but are MUCH more trouble than they are worth. had some for a while and now i have a fungus gnat infestation that i can not get rid of, even after removing the plants. that looks like plenty of vent to me.

There so awesome looking the coloration is so cool can't wait to hopefully have one in the future

Yea the enclose is very very old (from when i was a kid actually some 25 yrs ago). The heat pads are there cause hey have always been haha

I love the visual appeal to live plants and the fresh air cant hurt. Pest problems are a concern but i hear pothos is universally good choice so i may start there. I have not made up my mind yet fully on that tho

And yea im so happy i finally have her. Shes been at the top of my list for a long time and since my A. Versacolor died and we found her at the latest show, my wife let me grab her ))

@Abyss pothos is what i used as well. beware the gnats!!(not harmful but annoying as hell)

Will do!!! Im no where close to done researching plants but will keep that in mind for sure

@Venom1080 Try putting slices of potato in your enclosure, check them after about 4 hours, and some of the fungus gnat larva should be on/under the slices. Change your slices every day or two over a few days and it will help reduce/control your problem significantly. If they have no fine root hairs to feed on they will swarm those potato slices. Won't get rid of them, but will drastically reduce them. If you let your soil dry out, it will kill them off too, they live in the top 1/4th inch for the most part. There are other 'low impact' options such as vinegar water, or hydrogen peroxide mixed with water (3% HP solution mixed 1/4 parts water) will kill them for sure. I'd remove your T first though, until the HP has evaporated. Food grade diatomaceous earth works as well, but the silica particulate would probably be harmful to the T so I wouldn't recommend it.

I may be new to the Tarantula Hobby, but I've been an avid indoor gardener for a long time.

How did you drill the glass to put the vents in? Is that acrylic or glass?
