Grammostola pulchra (Bulldozer)

@Cassiusstein Oddly enough, she was blacker after her previous molt and then turned browner with this molt. I think she is in pre-molt now, so hopefully she will start showing her true pulchra colors soon.

@Ungoliant that is strange, I bought mine as an adult and I haven't seen any black yet, the pet shop said it hasn't molted in months so we'll see

At what size do they typically turn black? Also how long would you say it takes a g. pulchra to get from 1" to 3"?

@AmberDawnDays The first Grammostola pulchra that I got (not the one in this picture) was 0.75" on 9/5/2015. She has molted four times since then, and I would estimate -- she is skittish and hard to measure -- that she is about 1.5-1.75" now. Her current coloring is mostly black but was brown during previous instars. Molt dates:

• 10/7/2015
• 12/22/2015
• 2/16/2016
• 10/29/2016

The second one (shown in this picture) was 2" when I got her on 9/26/2015. She has molted twice and is currently 3". (I believe she is in pre-molt now, because she is refusing meals, and that is very out of character for her.) She was actually blacker during her previous instar than she is now. Molt dates:

• 12/2/2015
• 1/19/2016

So I'm not sure how long it takes them to turn black and stay black. I'm wondering if they can alternate somewhat as spiderlings.

@AmberDawnDays They are pretty hardy even as slings and reasonably priced. If you're impatient, you can try to find a bigger one, but those are less commonly available and more expensive.
