2 things that are unusual with this species.
1st is obvious, the 80's leg warmers on the rear legs
2nd is that no matter how much food is eaten, the abdomen always retains a Grape like shape
Beautiful girl! I debated picking some of these up with my last purchase from a dealer who has them. Too bad I didn’t. I will have to next time. They look very beautiful. They are an arid Mexican terrestrial muxh like Brachypelma and Tliltocatl spp. correct?

Huh. Interesting. So it doesn’t become rounded out and more spherical, even when she is stuffed to bursting?

There's a few species I've raised w/the same observation re eating.
I’d be curious to know what species. I find it interesting that some species’ abdomens would retain a certain shape as they increase in size.

Thats correct. Keep like a brachy as far as dry sub is concerned. Up until her last moult she was always buried deep down but hasn't bothered since.

Yeah, always look like a hairy Grape. If you look at the size compared to the carapce and imagine that was on a brachy, would have a very plump rounded booty. That shape must help with digging and living a fossorial life.

She isn't mad food responsive when it goes in but it's never their in the morning LOL

So are they more fossorial then would you say?
Also, what is the growth rate like?
Just figure it would be good to know these things so I know what to expect when I get some slings.
Was already a large juvie when I got her. She moults once every 9 to 12 months atm. Obviously with slings, will be far more refular.

I have given her a fossorial set up which up until last moult, she fully utilised, but she just sits out all the time now. Certainly give the option and see what the individual slings prefer. 😊

Some Avics don't get too large despite eating

9-12 months is a fairly short molt cycle for a Mexican species. Perhaps this is one of the faster growing Mexicans? Certainly a lot faster than a Brachypelma that’s for sure!

I will keep that in mind and set mine up in setups designed to allow adequate burrowing when I get some and they reach appropriate size.

I actually don’t give my terrestrials slings the room to burrow much because from what I have read, it makes ensuring they eat well much harder, which can lead to slower growth rates. I instead house them in 2oz deli cups, and they are all doing very well.

I will ch3xknon the 9 ton13 months as that was just memory. I have a spreadsheet for all my 300+ Ts with previous molts.

Yeah I tend to keep slings similar amd not a few at deal of floor space either as food response is a lat more aggressive when in smaller containers for sure.

Hope you het chance to get some slings. Not readily seen. Only e wr see them one more time advertised in UK. I actually got mine in a trade
