Kira the cat closest to the camera, is my lap cat lying right beside me. Smudge and Katie are both shy/feral cats. With Kira as a barrier they sit on the couch watching me but as soon as I reach out they are gone...
@boina Man, German feral cats must be A LOT different than those in Florida. You don't "have" them anywhere. They are truly wild, in the purist sense of the word, thin, scraggly, often pieces missing. If you try to pick one up, it is commonly described as, holding a furry lawn mower (or, cuisinart). Yours are quite good looking cats.
@FrDoc Feral cats here in rural PA aren't that bad. I mean I wouldn't pick one up, but they're more skinny than anything else. I'm currently feeding two. One is a pretty healthy-sized tom. I live across from a giant field and there are a lot of farms in the area-- aka the perfect drop spot for unwanted cats. Two of my cats came from a feral-ish mother. I think she got dumped because she was pregnant, but she was awful skittish. Anyway I managed to get her warmed up and brought her into our spare bedroom (so she wouldn't fight with my dog or cat) and got her to the vet. She popped out four kittens. Found homes for two, and the momma, and kept two.
@boina Yeah my mom. "Why aren't you married, Christina? Find a man to take care of you, Christina. You're an old spinster, Christina. Do you wanna die alone, Christina?" Whatever.
