avicularia avicularia

Due to 250 characters limit I couldn't post in the description.. I also was curious on others opinions on handling this species. I have read mixed reviews on it so far if indeed I have a P. irminia.
While at the Hamburg show yesterday, the vendor opened this spider and held it, and it quickly skittered over his bare hand, and I have handled it while rehousing it from the deli cup.

that is DEFINITELY NOT a P. irminia.
That is some sort of Avicularia. Cant tell for certain which sp. of Avicularia yet though off that pic alone. Wait for it to gain its adult colors and then post it in the ID section.

I would definitely steer clear from that vendor in the future. Also, if i were you i would hold off on purchasing ts before doing research from now on. This is a mistake that should not have happened.

When you have read and read... and read some more sometimes new facts emerge, at least this is the case for me. Sometimes all it takes is an inconspicuous stripe or something comparable to this to change what spider it is... the haplopelma tarantulas are a prime example.
I am not super experienced and I am not ashamed or embarrassed to admit this but I feel as if poor judgement is being made on me for sharing. I do not think I have made a mistake at all and am happy with my purchase.
I agree, purchasing this Tarantula from this vendor may not have been the best now that I look back, but when it comes to the care of them I am confident with my skills. Worse things could happen... someone buys a P. Murinus for their child as their first T.... shudders at the thought!
Thank you for the insight into the Avicularia. I will browse the forum genus pages further. I just wanted to be positive before slapping a scientific label on the enclosure.
I appreciate your response and many thanks. Please do not think I am some nasty person though, I just felt the need to explain and somewhat defend myself against your final statement. :)

Thank you Ludedor24, the price tag was $25.00 (us dollars). This was at a reptile show in Hamburg Pennsylvania yesterday so it's safe to assume I paid slightly less than if I had gone to a lps.
I'm glad to be sure it is an Avic. I had some concerns of it being a P. Mirinia due to the unpredictability of their species. I'm so glad I asked.. now to determine which avic I have here. To my untrained eye, it really resembles an A. Versi, just with orange and black, not the alluring blues and greens of the versicolor.
Thanks a bunch for your support and help :)

I believe what you have is either an Avicularia Metallica or Avicularia Huriana. Check sling and juvenile photos for a better comparison.

However, I also think that it could very well be an immature Avicularia Avicularia, as well. So, these three might have the highest probability toward what you're looking for, but I'd actually lean more toward Avic. Avic. than anything. I'd need to see a little clearer picture to make sure, however.

Thanks to both of you ^^
This is helpful. Would it help by adding that the hairs on this sling are more of a calm light...slightly tan color?
I think this little one resembles the metallica more than the huriana, but not exactly. The hairs are not super fuzzy and pink looking according to the pictures, and it's leg coloration isn't as light as huriana, but not as black as metallica. To add, I do not know when it has last molted, but it isn't refusing food so I assume that it couldn't have been to terribly long ago according to the size. I mention that, because coloration as we all know, changes before a molt.
This is my first Avic sling, the other one I own I purchased as a sub-adult. I was at the time uncomfortable with a t so little, so I opted for an older one in my comfort zone.
Now any size is ok for me, after being into the hobby 2 years.

I can see what you mean once you explain it a bit. I edited my post above a little too late for you to catch that I thought it might be an Avic. Avic. as well, which seems to be that comfortable medium between what you were explaining, so check on that as well for further review. If it still seems off, then I'd have to admit I'm not as experienced as most others so my two cents are completely spent.

Good luck, nonetheless.

Balvala, I would say with confidence after looking at 100s of avic sling pics that I have a standard avic avic... or aka avic Guyana.
I'll let him grow a little to see what comes about coloration wise, but I'm so sure of it now. Your links helped greatly!
