Please help with id. California tarantula? found north of San Francisco in grassy area close to the coast. This specimen does not look like Aphonopelma eutylenum from photos I have seen.
There's a slim chance that it could be a Aphonopelma Smithi (Bay Area Blonde.) These are found around Mt. Diablo and in the foothills of East Bay, especially around Livermore as well. However, I really don't think you'd find one in the city but I could be wrong.
