Megaphobema robustum or Brachypelma baumgarte? Picked this guy up at a pet shop looking for a Brachypelma.. I can try and get better pics, but this guy loves to burrow.. I think I'll add a little more substrate to the enclosure.
Yes, this is Megaphobema robustum, the Colombian giant redleg. They are an obligate burrower, so they need deep, moist substrate and will spend much of their time underground. They are a beautiful species, though, and those times you get to see them out of the burrow make keeping them rewarding. They are voracious eaters, too - my big girl has never turned down a meal...

Amazing. So excited to see it get bigger, hard to tell in my pics but it's still only maybe 3" big or so. Love seeing it's little red legs. Thank you!
