Brachypelma smithi
Is it just more red ish than the old smithi? Very nice genus hope to get some again!

You got another year yet, my boys butt is the same colour n has been all of this year doesn't seem to be getting much darker 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ah the 2 year cycle of an adult Brachypelma 🤣

She's looking beautiful btw 😍

I caved 2 weeks ago n after getting my 4 boys, I bought a confirmed female, wasn't risking any more unsexed smithi that are male lol 😆..... let me know if you need a male in about 4 years once mine have grown 😂 would offer you my big male (penultimate I think) but the SO has dibs on him 😊

The difference between these true smithi (ex annitha) and the hamorii (formerly identified as smithi) is stark when you see them together as larger specimens. Smithi often possesses less black on the carapace than hamorii, though this is not always a reliable way to identify them as many smithi have plenty of black setae on the carapace too (compare my own girl here to some of the other smithi pics posted in the gallery as she has a fair amount of black compared to others). Smithi are larger and more vibrantly coloured than hamorii, and the vibrant orange continues down through both bands of the leg whilst it does not with hamorii. There are also differences between the patterning on the knees, I'll refer to the video below to explain that as well as everything else I just mentioned

What a stunner ! She'll look even better post molt !
Seeing some of the other pics on here of freshly molted smithi gets me exited lol, I can't wait!

Hopefully not another year as her bum has turned black as coal haha, this pic was taken when I first got her. Thank you for the offer, I've been slimming down my collection to focus on spiders I intend to pair and she's for sure one of those so she'll defo need a boyfriend in the future :)
