Got it from a very reputable dealer. sold to him, then to me as Borneo black. But, that violet hue on legs and jet black color (no brown at all), is puzzling me. It's a female, around 5" DLS now, not sure when she molted. So, any thoughts, or a guess? P. arboricola or L. nigerimmum?
purple-sheen is not a good indication of anything, lots of black spiders have it
i personally think the description of P. arboricola as a whole is a little iffy, but it was accepted so...
swiching names around just based on some colour is a big no no for me
Like playing 'Stille Post' if only people sick with what they were told .... there may still be some mistaken ids, but if everyone changes it around willy nilly its way worse.
or nigerrimum arboricola or whatever... I love her. She's my most visible Asian arboreal. When she's hungry she's out.

i found this post, and i would personally say it looks more like the P. arboricola (ex. L. sp. 'Borneo Black') but to be honest i always found the two very hard to differentiate.
not sure if i see it right but the carapax looks to be a liitle more elongated in 'Borneo Black', right?
L. nigerimmum is smaller as adults and they have the nice jet black glossy look with deep purplish femur sheen in them. P. arboricola are larger overall, and they can be black post-molt but quickly go to a flat-black/gray appearance.

i agree, mine does have more of a silvery/gray sheen to its black, but i think i do see some purple under bright lights as well, and i expect this will only get stronger as she grows
i don't have a real L. nigerimmum however so i cant really compare them myself, only ever seen pictures
i was just wondering if the purple is a good indicator at all, since both spiders seem to have it
