I have 4 AF from a Mexican import and they all have different but distinct patterns on carapace which are all much lighter that the 'typical' solid black carapace of B hamorii. Its not a guarantee that its a smithi with the lighter and patterned carapace but is a useful visual clue.
Hope yours grows up quickly (doubt it with it being a brachy ha ha) so you can also enjoy the patterns
