New to the hobby. Is this Nicaragua or Honduras wooly T ? Also wondering the approximate age. He/She seems about 3 to 3.5 inches with legspan. I bought it about a month or two ago, and was told it was a juvenile.
Looks to be a Nicaraguan form Tliltocatl albopilosus. Unfortunately, no one will be able to tell you how old it is unless is it captive bred and the breeder has the date. Tarantulas grow at different rates based on a lot of factors
I thought so too. As far as age goes, it is very aggressive and skittish. So still young? Any input on it's sex from the next pic? Didn't want to be spammy but posted in the sexing thread as well
It's not an adult or a sling, that's really all I can say. Personally varies from individual to individual, and even from molt to molt in the same individual. I have 3 T. albo slings, all have very different personalities. So personality unfortunately isn't very useful either. I'll check the other pic
Understood. I always check it's temperament before attempting to handle it. And I get different reactions each time. From aggressively attacking my paintbrush all the way to running for it's hide. Once in a full moon, it will chill with me outside it's tank, sometimes kick dance hairs on me in circles. But as you said, I hope/imagine it becoming more confident as it gets older and more used to me. Thanks for your knowledge about this species. At least I know it's dark form for sure now
