This one behaves like a Brachypelma. She is tolerant of me guiding her around with a paintbrush, and while she’s made use of the pre-made burrow I provided, she wanders around her enclosure regularly, and she’ll occasionally sit out in the open for extended periods of time. I’ve received only ONE threat pose from her, and that was when I unpacked her. Easily the calmest Haplo/Cyrio I’ve ever worked with....
I’m also slow and stealthy when I take the lid off, and that definitely helps too

I personally believe that ExoticsLair is the main reason this species has such an awful reputation. For a long time, his AF C. minax was HYPER defensive, but the truth is, he wasn’t keeping it correctly. His old setups for his Asian Fossorials didn’t provide enough space to burrow, so as a result, those Ts never felt secure, and therefore, always felt the need to defend themselves. Now that he’s set them up correctly, they haven’t been giving him problems.
They’re still a Haplopelma/Cyriopagopus, so they are still capable of being terrors regardless, but when setup correctly, they would much rather try to hide than stand their ground. And I also think that I just lucked out with this one being a doll
So funny you mentioned ExoticsLair because that’s where I first saw one in action haha. I’ve noticed his c. darlingi is on the wild side in some of his vids and sure enough, tons of webbing not enough substrate. I can’t seem to wrap my head around stressing out your spider for the sake of some cool webbing

It’s sad honestly. I will admit, when I got my first Asian Fossorial (C. lividus), I set it up as a terrestrial, as I thought that if it burrowed I’d never get to see it. But after witnessing its toxic attitude, I decided that seeing it all the time wasn’t worth all the jumpscares and stress it put on the spider. So I rehoused it into a Fossorial setup, and I have had very few issues with her since. And when I do get to see her out and about, it makes it so much more special....
I still watch his videos, as I’ll admit that they are entertaining, but I stopped supporting him when I realized his channel was more about him, and not the Ts.

Wow that is so cool she stays out so much for you. My girls web tube that extends all the way up from substrate to lid so I don't get the stealth option when it comes to removing the lid on my enclosure. Keep them pictures coming to remind the rest of us who keep the minax what it looks like again. Lol. Thanks for your reply as well.
