Porteri or Rosea? I vote Grammostola porteri. Purchased retail as a "rose hair". Also in premolt. Would qualify as a "psycho rosy" and tries to climb out and flea and be defensive when disturbed. Not a nice spider!
@KezyGLA Wow this is so new to me for what I used to know! I'm getting back into the hobby I was in for over 15 years (1995-2008). I never remember rosies being copper like mine.
Its also the jerkiest grammostola (insert whatever "rose" variety here) 've ever encountered. Consistently scrambles UP, not down or around but UP... and is the most active G. ("rose whatever") i've had... I will definitely post pics freshly molted and sexed!!! This exact specimen likely came from the warehouse distributor Strictly Reptiles in Florida (strictlyreptiles.tv) or Wilcox Bait and Tackle in Virginia... since I used to work at the shop I got it from and those are there go to ordering folks. Would be neat to track the original importer / collectors...
OK after some searching and images I tracked down... I agree with everyone about sp. north. WOW! Interesting. So if this is a different species, then no real name is designated to it yet? It literally has ZERO pink or purple anywhere from the time I got it up to now (premolt). It is all brown and copper and skittish as hell. Cannot wait to see what it looks like post molt!
I have a Grammostola sp. north (aka Grammostola del Norte/Chilean north). You’re welcome to compare to my images in my media. Mine is a ~5-6 yr old, female. She is similar to my partner’s true rose hair, except she shines copper and is a bit more skittish but friendly. She was a bit more ornery before her molt of course, but other than that, she will wander out onto my hand if I go in to change her water. She’s a wonderful little creature just in need of some empathy as they are more sensitive than the rosies. I think most/if not all are wild-caught as of now, so yours might need some rest and rehab and get to know you
