ya and there is a really good reason why the T is on my head. She was insistent on climbing up my neck. So instead of stopping her I let her climb on my head and scooped her up. It was safer to let her climb. The only risky thing I did was take a quick picture.
If she bolts from the top of your head even on to a soft surface she could split her abdomen, it's why we don't like handling here nothing to do with a bite ect more to do with t's are unpredictable wild animals ( hence her climbing your neck) If she gets spooked and bolts it's the end of her life not yours. In my opinion it's not worth it .
omg you don't even know why she was on top of my head do you? That was a one time thing I couldn't prevent. Yes she could fall or jump and she could get hurt. I don't make it a habit of letting my Ts walk on my head. I get what you are saying. I already had this discussion with someone else. The only way I would handle one of my Ts (IF IT MAKES YOU ALL WARM AND FUZZY) is over my couch or bed...and only when the spider is calm and not bolty. Body language is everything. Chilly can jump yes but she is so slow and gentle she has never jumped.. hence her name is Chilly.
To handle or not is of course always going to be the choice of each individual keeper. Most of the people that frequent these boards are advocates for the safety of the spiders and will do our best to discourage people from putting their T's safety at risk. Bottom line, if you want to handle your spiders, go for it, but don't post pics of it on this site and then get defensive when people tell you it's not the best idea.

Erm now I will be rude, idc why she was on your head it's bad keeping end of , if she wasn't out in the first place she wouldn't be on your head and it's something you should be ashamed of not stopped for a pic! I have 100+ t's non of them have escaped or ended up on my head, if you were any sort of decent keeper you would never have allowed that to happen in the first place.
I mean what's your logic t's don't want anything to do with us ! They don't want cuddles or to go on a wander they want to sit in their burrows/web/both and eat . That's it , there is no earthly reason for getting them out of their environment unless it's a rehouse or breeding. It serves no purpose for the t only you which is more then a little selfish.

Give it a rest bro im 56 and ive had tarantulas since I was 13. Not one got injured because of handling so you can stop right now. Yes you are rude because you don't like or think that im doing something wrong to hurt the animal. DO you think I would handle my pokie? not a chance so that just shows I am a good tarantula keeper. OMG tarantulas benefit from being handled, If a T can live with a frog for mutual benefit then its not a stretch that they would benefit from a bigger animal guarding them. Get with the times they aren't dumb animals!!!!
