My African fat tail gecko female, about 9mo old, hasn't eaten for me since I got her a month ago. I had her on natural substrate for a week or so and then switched her to paper towels as per the advice of many people.
My worry is that she's impacted and I'm not sure what to do. The most she has...
Hey all so I got a male for my female A. avic "metallica" and the first pairing went well. She was receptive and I think I saw an insert. My question is should I cohab the male and female for a bit? I read the avic bredding reports and there didn't seem to be anything that said "DO NOT COHAB."...
Got my first old world today. Poecilotheria rufilata. I know these are some of the more angry pokes but I am going slow with it. I used Petko's rehousing method and it wored amazing. Now I'm going to leave it alone for a few days.
Also got 2 Nhandu chromatus slings. Little cuties have their...
There's a show next weekend and my dad wants me to pick up an H. mac sling for him but he'll be out of town for the weekend. I likely wouldnt be able to make it back up to Indianapolis from Bloomington until the weekend after that and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with holding on to a hot old...
He matured in May and has paired with one female already. His owner said he is still making sperm webs and eating regularly. I will most likely be picking him up this weekend.
I found a mature male for my A. metallica (I know it's avic avic #6 it's just easier to go with the old name) but I'm wondering if I should wait for a molt before I pair her? When I got her 2 months ago her breeder said she'd just molted maybe 3 weeks before I got her. So that would put her last...
First of all, if she's laying eggs and from PetSmart she's likely wild caught, so definitely observe her behavior for anything unusual and keep an eye out for mites. You will likely not be able to ever breed her because you can't be certain what color morph of Avic avic she is and we don't need...
I found a 2" molt-sexed B. emilia for $175. Is this too much? Considering I'd also have to pick up an enclosure for her I'm cautious. But it's such a rare opportunity to find a female of a species I want so much I'm very torn.
Granted, it is my birthday, so I could argue to treat myself.
I guess I didn't explain very well. I never leave the prey in there very long at all. Usually just drop it in right at the burrow mouth and maybe give it a nudge. Before when the irminia ate, it pounced on prey immediately. But once this stopped happening and the roaches just crawled right back...
So I got a P. irminia sling around 2 months ago and the little thing has made a burrow right at the base of it's cork bark and I haven't seen it since. I've fed it a few times, until the dubia crawled out of the burrow on their own and started running around (I assumed the sling didn't want them...
The issue is the little bugger is totally mobile so just putting food on its mouthparts is likely impossible. It runs (albeit shakily) away every time I open the tank or put anything near it. I'm not sure if anything is wrong with the fangs the sling is only 3/4" and the mouthparts are very small.
It's been over a month since my versicolor sling had a bad molt and came out all twisted. In that month the sling has not eaten anything I've offered, even pre-killed prey. I give it plenty of water. I'm just sad because I think it's going to die. If it was gonna molt again to fix itself...
