Went to my first ever reptile convention with one of my good friends. Came back with some new tarantulas! This is my new G. pulchripes sling. So small and so cute! I'm looking forward to raising them!
@Androxian If you hobble the cricket so it can't jump (remove one or both hind legs), it makes it easier for the sling to catch. Tiny slings will also scavenge on cricket drumsticks.
@Ungoliant Yep, that's what they've been getting, the ol' drumsticks. Honestly I just took one of my bigger male crickets in the pen and sliced him in half and placed it in front of their burrows. Before I could even put the back half in the G. pulchripes' enclosure, the front half in the emilia's enclosure was already gone.
I'll pick up some teeny crickets for them so they can refine their hunting ability, since both my big gals are walled off at the moment. Now I'll have to practice grabbing the tiny dudes. If I do go with small crickets, how many should I place in there? 2-3? Or just get large crickets and continue with the slice and dice method. It doesn't matter to me.
