Breeding chamber. Large tub with three AF P.subfusca + freshly molted MM HL form. See his cute little paws as the bottom left. Hopefully everyone plays nice! This species is so chill!
I actually think that is riskier. Males always need to know the ground they stand on, and an escape route. That is why I give them the tub to play in, with their enclosures open. They have their 'safe space' that is theirs, and when ready, can leave to do what they do in ample time. Merely throwing the male in the females domain will result in a quicker death than letting them do the dance on their own merry time @Venom1080.
Im into risky business...what can i say @Venom1080?! And like I said previously, it will be a rotation between the females and the MM. See, I knew you where doubting me from the get go. And ppl wanna criticize me for getting jumpy, and assuming the doubt early. I didnt jump outta the nest yesterday boss.
@DeTwan while, in your opinion, introducing the male is more risky than risking 3 adult females. im just saying i would not risk 3 adult female P subfuscas in a mating attempt.
has this worked in the past?
I think this could be more useful if you kept two of the females enclosures shut, rotating which is open. That way, the females will hear the male drumming. It could keep them "In the mood".
@Leonardo the Mage, that's the plan, actually all the cages where open for about 4 hours today. My original girl of 7-8yrs is the only one that is active. The high is about 70F and it dips it into the mid to low 60's at night. I suspect that most of the other AFs that I have acquired over the last couple months where kept at temps non-conducive for mating for the HL variety. They love the cooler temps. So, at the moment the only enclosure open is my acclimated girl and the MM. And he is not acclimated to cooler temps either probably. I stated that I was going to rotate them much earlier in this thread if you didnt notice.
