This is my first vinegaroon. I have been keeping a juvenile vinegaroon (less than 1 inch excluding tail) on moist coco coir after doing my research on moisture levels they prefer. I've had it about 2 weeks. The vinegaroon has dug a burrow but is constantly going round and round its enclosure at night and attempting to climb the walls. It has eaten well. Temps range from high 60s to mid 70s. Is this typical vinegaroon behavior? Is it trying to escape excessive moisture levels? It will retreat to its burrow when disturbed and quickly reappear. Don't they hibernate during the winter?

Giving this thread a bump because we're observing similar behavior with our little one. Our enclosure is 2.5 gallons, room temp is mid-70s to mid-80s, and the diet has been crickets, mealworms (well-stunned so they won't burrow) and dwarf white isopods (cleanup-crew but also snacks between meals). We would like to know if anyone has thoughts on the running laps at night behavior.

Yeah I wish I knew more about them.

Thanks, Ultum4Spiderz. I've seen this article before and it helped (I'm looking around to see where I can get pinhead crickets locally) but meanwhile our little guy is enjoying mealworms. I also have the book Forgotten Order of the Vinegaroons by Orin McGonigle which, although a terrific resource, doesn't have as much info as I'd like on the specifics of rearing youngsters. Then again I am a fretful momma who has only ever raised kittens and this is a whole new world for me. Fortunately our little one has stopped running his nightly laps and is instead just chilling sideways on a piece of bark by day and moseying around at a more vinegaroon-appropriate (?) pace at night, so he seems to be happy for now.

Yeah I’ve never had a Vinegaroons pet supplies quit carrying arachnids. My other LPs doesn’t sell them either. Good luck 🍀 raising it.

but please for the love of life do not listen to anything the TC says about Thelyphonida he is absolutely not well informed at all on this subject especially. No one on YT really is

I see no one answered your OP. They usually go into diapause in winter but in captivity this can be thrown off sometimes. As long as it does not appear distressed then laps around the tank are normal.
