I think your best bet is to get those sticky roach motels, and bait them with smelly tastly left overs and put them all around QUICK!!!!

go to home depot and pick up some roach bait. use small placements all over and keep all food crumbs away. they will find and eat the bait as long as there are no other food sources. main thing is to find out where they came from in the first place and if they are established somewhere nearby.

German cockroaches are insidious. For every one you see, there may be up to 100 hiding from you. Infestations of these insects are incredibly difficult to deal with. If you live in a house and the infestation is well established you may be able to tent your house and have if fumagated. You would have to find a place for your tarantulas for a while to do this however. If you live in an apartment, getting rid of them may be harder if there is an infestation becuase if you spray your apartment (removing all T's for a while) the roaches will just move to adjoining apartments and come back later.

If the roach problem is a small one less drastic measures like sticky bait traps may be sufficient to get rid of them, but only if you work fast and stop the infestation from devloping.

If I have to fumigate, how long would I have to wait before bringing the spiders back in?

You are best off calling or emailing the company that makes the product you plan to use.

Wild caught roaches have developed resistance to pesticides. Feeding them to your spiders is bad because they might be carrying pesticides in their bodies that is more than enough to kill your spiders.

The use of poisons and other chemicals disgusts me as much as the scum that uses them.

Find yourself some nice German spiders that eat cockroaches, and let them free in your house! Either that or use the simple glue traps and release the roaches outside your house, a good distance away.

Personally I would trap this lot live and use them to start a feeder colony, obviously you would only use the second or thrid generation from this lot to be sure there were no pestisides left in their bodies. With regaurd to the pestisides I would move the T's out to be safe, but I once had a T that had esscaped run right though some insect killer that was meant to kill roaches and live with no bad effects. We had put the pestiside down to kill off some escaped and breeding crickets that we could not deal with any other way.

Really? Is that what I should have told my boss when I came in to work this morning to find a 150 foot long, 1/2 inch wide trail of ants in the building? Pest insects are called pests for a reason. Should we run the risk of catching illnesses from a prolific bug that's invaded our homes because you think people who kill pests are scum? You might want to think aout picking your battles and your choice of words a little better. You don't have to agree with the usage, but calling everyone who uses pesticides "scum" won't get you into anyone's good graces.
German roaches are probably the most difficult bug to get rid of. Glue traps will do litte to no good...they're breeding in the walls. Try to find someone who can look after your inverts for a few days. If you live in an apartment, call management and make a complaint, get them to hire an exterminator. Throw the windows open for a couple days to let any residual fumes out. Your inverts shouldn't be in any danger unless they come into direct contact with the poison. To be safe, kill and toss any crickets that hit the ground for the next couple months.

I never really have been that concerned with what the general populace thinks of me. {D

The commonly used poisons are an absolutely horrible way to die, and I can only wish that upon anyone who dares use them.

You had better get pretty serious about what we think of you starting fights here, if you won't get serious about anything else. You are showing a real penchant for inflaming situations that were perfectly calm before you stuck your head in. It needs to stop soon, or we'll need to be more active in helping it stop. You have been vocal enough about your views on those who are disruptive and counter-productive members of society... just remember we take those same views of people like that are only here to get attention and fan flames.

Fortunately, cockroaches don't "die horribly" ... they just mosey along one day and then all of a sudden lose the use of their navigation, motor function, and/or impulse control, and right in the middle of them thinking "gee, what's up?" they simply cease to exist. Don't try to romanticize a cockroach death, it doesn't appear to be a smart man's fight.

Pretending to understand the mental processes of a cockroach does not seem to be a smart man's course of action either.

I find it entertaining how much of your speech was phrased only to be inflammatory to me. To voice one's opinion on a topic is never inflammatory when you voice it for the sake of getting it out there.

You personally will never stop it. I find you just as offensive and ignorant as you find me.

Those all...are horrible things to say.

Listen to galdriel (sorry if i mispelled) she was 100% correct. basically, it's us or the roaches. would you rather kill a bug er' two, or you and your entire family be plagued with diseases? like said. they are pests not "pets". They do no good for the world, they kill many in other countries, and are a great danger to our health. You mean to tell me you've never used a pesticide before? and to say
The commonly used poisons are an absolutely horrible way to die, and I can only wish that upon anyone who dares use them
that's terrible.... you must wish a lot of people, including me, dead. because some people's jobs are based on the extermination of cockroaches, and the uses of pesticides and sprays.

And for the part with Mr. internet...I'd listen to him. lol...i've fought with him before and lost, and he knows his stuff. It's not just him that thinks your ignorant....i think a lot of people have the same feelings here on AB. and the cockraoch part. i think that's true as well, i havn't much read up on or heard of their death cycle or whatever, but i doubt it's as painful as a humans. they shut down everything and die....they dont cry and we dont shoot them with 10 doses of morphine.....only in hisser cases do we use morphine {D

They are very important part of the food chain, so they do some good. Just for the record.
