One of my L.dificillis slings that i just got today got loose. Well i found it, a small house spider killed it and it walking around with it. I couldn't believe it. I'm very upset right now.

Just happened to check on the slings i got, and noticed he was missing, so i started looking around and saw the house spider "chewing" on something and it happened to be my sling. Mistakes happen, i've been keeping over 7 years, its not the first mistake i made, and it wont be the last.

You're right... I'll never believe it.

lol

All joking aside... I'm really sorry to hear that :( I think I would be pretty traumatized to see that! But, I would catch that damn house spider and keep it in a cage (properly, of course).. sort of my mean way of punishing it.

Holy crap! That's way more wild than when I lost my coloratovillosis the other day and probably vacuumed it up. So much drama...

The best thing you could of done was never told us this story here on arachnoboards.

And the best thing you could have done was skipped posting that.

Sorry for the loss Mattyb, that is indeed some bad luck!

For whatever it's worth - the spider that got your tarantula is a Pholcid. They often prey on other spiders. There's a spider around here called a pirate spider that specializes in sneaking into the webs of other spiders and killing them - and we found one of these pirates wrapped up in silk in a pholcid nest in our hallway one morning.

Sorry about your loss.

Sorry for your loss, that's crazy weird.

Yesterday in the kitchen I saw a hobo spider run by on my kitchen counter and then behind the refridgerator and I immediately freaked, thinking one of my T slings escaped. Of course none did, but when you see something like that run by really fast on the same counter you're making food on, you tend to freak a little.

Awww.... Sorry for your loss. :( That is quite an interesting story though. Can't say I've ever heard of something like that before (especially you actually catching the other spider eating yours). Now I'm wondering how many times that happens to other people's escaped slings that never turn up.
