Anyone ever heard that common name before ( I know, aren't they wonderful) I saw it on a dealer list and haven't been able to contact the seller yet as to an ID yet. It was suggested on another site it may be Paraphrynus cubensis. Thought I would ask here as there seems to be plenty of knowledgeable Amblypigi fans.

There are some pretty cool yellow ones here https://www.dailymail.co.uk/science...spiders-Brazil-threat-destruction-Amazon.html but I doubt any of these are them.

What vendor did you see that at? I picked up some whitei recently, I've been trying to get them for 25 years (literally) and never found anyone with current availability.

He is a wholesaler in the Chicago area. His list only goes out to brick and mortar stores in the area. I guess I am grandfathered in even though I don't have my store any more because we are friends and I live far enough away as to not be competition for his regulars. If I can find out what they are I'll let you know, after I've purchased all I want for myself that is ;)

P. cubensis is anything but yellow. In fact there is no yellow Paraphrynus.

The only ones that can fall under this made-up name are:
Acathophrynus coronatus
Phrynus asperatipes

Phrynus whitei were recently introduced to the hobby as WC from Hondurans. They are coming in with WC T. albopilosus. There has also been some talk about Paraphrynus cubensis being collected in the Florida Keys recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if its either of those.

Later, Tom

Let me know if you get some extras. As long as it's not a common Florida whipspider or something else common renamed, I want some.

UPDATE: I was not able to contact him. I was hoping to see him at Tinley this weekend but that ended up being cancelled.

His last price list had no mention of tailless whip scorpions but he did have yellow desert hairy scorpions listed so I am wondering if it might have been a misprint on the previous list.

looks like I'm not going to be getting anything rare or exciting like I thought I might. I'll keep you updated if I do find anything out. I know how bad common names can be but even though they are confusing I think it can be beneficial to know what common names people are using for what species. If I find out he, or his supplier, is using "yellow Tailless whip scorpion' for a particular species at least if someone asks in the future we will know that at least at some time someone was calling a particular species by that name. its not teh best but even bad information can be useful information if used in the right context.
