Yeah, they'll do that.

Good! :)

I found the article's quick description of urticating hairs and the fact that they "migrate" through the corneas interesting. The article also prompted me to look up "micro-forceps"- Grieshaber Revolution™ DSPs look like miniature replicas of alien probes from a bad science fiction film.

Sometimes in life you have to bull rush in order to gain dominance or trust of animal; like dogs and cats. Not tarantulas. They like to be wooed a little. I don't know about you but when I see em kickin, I'm taking my time. Bad enough on my arm , I can't imagine in my eye

That second link was a much better article. Funny how (in the first article) they mention that it was a "Chilean Rose" but neither article has a picture with the right species. I believe the first one was a B. boehmi and the second looked like H. gigas or maybe C. crawshayi. At least the first one had urties...

I noticed that too lol. And I second your motion on B.boehmi and H.gigas. I have both those T's in my collection lol. It was also good that they mentioned that the venom is not poisonous to humans :)

This one has the right picture. Naturally, the scientific name of the spider is misspelled "Grammostala rosea". Also worth noting that "The authors said the spider was about 15 to 20 cm from his eye." :wall: I think the spider about to step on the guy's eyeball may be a selenocosmiine.

Well, score one for the more venomous species!!! They could have at least made mention that not all species of tarantulas have urticating hairs. But then we'd probably be advised to wear chain-mail suits to handle the non-hairkickers due to venom potency......

you know, i have acually been having troubles with my left eye...first it was just always beat red(like i had pink eye without the goopy stuff) ...my vision is now somewhat blurred. and now it had started to have constant spasms..my eyelids, and my eye ball. feel like there constantly "kicking"

i almost wonder if i may have had some Urticating bristles get into my eye. it has been doing this for about a month now.

but i have also noticed i get a tension headache behind that eye too. maybe its something else? possibly, from being on the computer, or ps3 too much? or a stigmatism?

but i have had many new worls Ts kick hair right in my face...coincedence maybe?

I've been having eye problems lately as well, but my Avic poops instead of throwing hairs, and my G.rosea is out of ammo.

Not to state the obvious or anything but you should get that checked out. if it's urties your eye may not heal on its own for a long time, if ever. If it's something worse then... well then you'll know.

Your G. rosea may have just planted some mines in her enclosure, though.

Nope. Molted with hooks more than a year and a half ago, went bald shortly after. Tank has been cleaned and substrate completely replaced since. The only mines are poop, which he likes to do right against the glass.
