My B. smithi has been in pre-molt for a few weeks, and I've been watching him closely...

But, of course, he decided to molt while I was driving to California!

I stopped at a rest stop in the morning for a nap, and found...

Which caused a total moment of panic, because I've NEVER seen this process before and while I KNEW it meant a molt was coming on it still freaked me out {D

I couldn't get really decent pictures because the T had himself shoved into the corner of the tank under the fake plants.. but I tried to get a few

I was excited that I was able to get the molt while it was soft and unfold it!

I had to get back on the road, after sitting and watching him for almost an hour... so I don't have any pictures of him now.. but he sure is purty!

Woot! I've been anxious to see these pics since the play by play via text of his process earlier today. His timing is kind of ironic since he has been in prime conditions for months and waits till he is crammed into a truck on a road trip out of state to do this.

My B. smithi is still in hiding and has a very black butt. I can't wait.

I couldn't believe his timing! But I've heard of Ts molting while being shipped, so I figured he'd have as good a shot as any lol luckily, it all went well... I would have been screwed, with no way to post on here for help LOL

Awesome!!!!!! That's gotta be hella special for you!!!! Congrats!!!

I got freaked the first time I witnessed a molt too. Since then, I've seen the process 7 more times, and it doesn't get old!!!! Hope you have many more to come.

Yay! Congrats! Watching a molt is so much fun, isn't it?? I've been known to call in to work and say I'm running late just because I've caught them in the act and wanted to stay home to watch.

I spent 9 hours at my computer back in March watching our B. albo molt...his enclosure was right beside my computer at the time and there was no way I was missing it. It was the first molt I'd ever seen, and it was only 2 months after I got into T's, when we only had 5 so it was also the first molt of a T in our care. I took a billion terrible pictures, I was afraid to even breathe near his enclosure.
It's very exciting, and you got great shots. I'm surprised we still don't have a B. smithi. They're not as available or cheap here in Canada as they are in the states.
