Now I know I want one. ;)

HEALTH-Crocodile-Antibodies

Scientists in northern Australia hope to develop a powerful new antibiotic based on anbtibodies found in crocodiles.

Crocodiles have an immune system so powerful, it fights off just about everything.
That's how crocs can heal so quickly and completely, after savaging each other in fights.
The scientists say the crocodile antibodies attach onto bacteria and virtually blast them apart.
In fact -- crocodile serum kills a lot more of the H-I-V organisms than human serum.
So, there are two possibilities here: stronger antobiotics -- and maybe also a drug to fight the virus that causes AIDS.

But the scientists add it's all going to take years of research and testing.

Yeah, and a second and third job so you can afford to keep it healthy for the next fifty years or so. ;)

IMO animals like this need to stay in the wild unless you are going to take care of it from the time you get it till the time it dies (and if you die first preparations on what the animal should be done with if something does happen)instead of releasing it back in the wild and they will probably be killed because they are not used to hunting for there own food if they were raised by food being given to them.

Don't want to get into the issue of whether or not crocodillians should be kept in the private sector but I will say that releasing any animal, native or not, back into the wild after being in captivity is not a good idea. I'd also like to add that crocodillians never lose their ability to hunt and kill prey on their own. The only problem that will occur with a captive crocodillian being in captivity so long and then released is that it will associate humans with food. A dangerous association. This is why feeding wild gators in Fl is illegal.

I hope this new medical development will help preserve them in the wild.
