SoI hadn’t heard of this species till I bought a sling called a giant blue bloom, Pamphobeteus nigricolorI then bought a ‘amazon blue bloom’ and when I found the species name I heard they become purple as mature males.

My question is this, which xenesthis species do become purple and is there any that are more than others?
I collect T’s but only specific ones that I love visually, my xenesthis intermedia I have seems just brown right now.
I have a small window for an opportunity to buy a xenesthis immanis, but again I don’t want to just buy many different ones hoping it’ll turn out a certain color. Does anyone know any distinctions between all of the xenesthis species?

this photo is of my current xenesthis intermedia.

If you use the search function you can find discussions about xenesthis species. The taxonomy is in need of revision, as is the case for pamphobeteus. I have x immanis and x intermedia and Pamphobeteus sp nigricolor juvies /slings. None of them will show the purple color until they’re adults and I think only males display these colorations for all of these species

I have 2 X intermedia slings. The main difference I can think of between Xenesthis and Pamphobeteus is that both male and female Xenesthis will display bright colours. Although the male one will be more colourful. Whereas a female Pamphobeteus will always be dull in colour.

I feel like in this hobby more Tarantula genera need revision then are fine. Lol

@Irithyllian if you just want a large purple T that is colorful male or female grab up a Phormictopus sp. Dominican Purple. They have skyrocketed in popularity lately and are fairly available right now to the savy T shopper.
