This is the next tarantula I am leaning towards buying. I cannot decide which one! I just wanted to know what is a good price for a 3 inch female. I know they are both rare and expensive, so I can only chose one. Any information will be helpful and I will be thankful!

Considering they are essentially indistinguishable (unless you know what you're looking for), get whatever is cheaper.

Hello Eric,

Can you elaborate on this please? What exactly are you looking for when you know what you're looking for? I'm curious to know how can one accurately distinguish these two species.

I have read recently that the only difference is in the males of both species. I would like to also hear from Eric on this as this has been something of interest to me also. Thanks in advance!

I have one of each and I have yet to figur eout the sex(still immature). From looking at them they are different, but not by much. X. immanis is not as vibrant, but has color. It has the same markings but is a brown. My X. intermidia is moreover black with markings of pinkish purple. I am awaiting my new Canon 50d on Thursday :)clap: ) and I am hoping I will be able to posting some very detailed photos. Activity wise the immanis is alot more outgoing as the intermidia is always trying to hid under a corkbark or leaf. Eitherway I enjoy them both for different reasons and hopefully purchase a partner for each after I can sex them. Hopefully it will be the next molt.
