Would this be an okay setup for a leopard gecko?

Would this setup be okay for a single leopard gecko for its entire life?

-10 gallon terrarium
-coconut fiber substrate
-infrared red light bulb (temp would be 86 F on the hot side)
-about 70-80% humidity

This is the setup I'm currently using for my emperor scorpion.

Nope. 20g long is usually the suggested tank size for this species at adulthood since they are active and need a good temperature gradient and multiple hides. That aside, coconut fiber is not a good substrate for a leo; they should not really be housed on particulates as they are prone to impaction - tile or paper towel are some of the more commonly used and safer substrates. And that humidity is much too high; leopard geckos come from a very arid habitat. High humidity can cause respritory illnesses, and the only moist spot in the tank should be the humid hide (which is used sparingly primarily for shedding). I suggest just sticking with your scorpion in such a set-up.

But leopard geckos are only a few inches so why do they need a 20g tank!

Can I use carpet as a substrate?

Would my room humidity of 30-40% be okay?

You didn't mention about my temperature, so I'm guessing it is alright, right?

they get to be around 8 inches as adults which is pretty sizeable.. I use astroturf (fake carpet) for my bedding and clean it regularly, and on one side of the cage have plenty of spaghnum moss for the humidity aspect and I personally mist his cage 2-3 times a week and get the moss damp.. I use a 20 gallon tank with some cool pieces of burl as hides and climbing structures with a heat lamp and pad underneath supplementing the winter cool temps.. also a water dish, but that should be obvious..good luck and have any more questions feel free to pm me or ask on the boards. :)
