Wolfie?

Someone brought this to me this morning at work. They seem pretty common around here:

Yes, it is a Lycosidae, or wolfie

Cool...I kinda figured it was from the look of it. Just wish we had bigger ones here like the H. Carolinensis etc

I wish I could tell you which species you have there. IMO, it is one of the burrowers. It may get bigger than you think. I have a Hogna aspersa that is not much smaller than a Carolina wolf. It will likely loose it's skittishness. My aspersa doesn't shy away or get defensive at all whenever I pop the lid open. It pounces on crix and loves to be misted down.

yep, definitely a lycosid. could be a hogna species, but not sure which one.
