Anyone here know how long pre-molt is for Lycosa carolinesis? This spider was always out of it's burrow, but i had been feeding it pretty heavily, and now has put up walls around the burrow. It's been in hiding for a couple days now, and I'm anxious to see the little critter again.

I am bumping this post because I haven't seen this spider in days and am hoping someone can help me out. Information on this species is scarce.

Actually, it's Hogna caolinensis now.

If it's an adult spider, it's not going to molt again. If it was a WC female, she could be making an eggsac. Best to leave her alone!

I had considered that. It did appear to be full grown when I made it my captive, but fed pretty heavily and so I thought maybe was going to molt one more time. Don't wolf spiders usually carry their eggs around with them instead of staying secluded? I can see through a small opening in the top of the turrent she made before going into hiding, and haven't seen the fist bit of her come out from under the small piece of cork bark her burrow leads to in over a week. Thanks for your help!

Well, as suggested, se laid an egg-sac. She brought it up to the burrow entrance a couple days ago. She has yet to exit the burrow, only backing the eggcase up to the top of her burrow. Anyone interested in H. carolinesis slings?

I'm sure they will hatch out fine. I had this female fatter than a farm hog before she went into seclusion. The sac is about 1/2" in diameter, and her legspan was only 2 inches or so. So I'm thinking there will be quite a few little babies.
