Wolf spider not eating caterpillars

I am keeping a wolf spider and noticed that it eats almost all insects and smaller spiders, but its not eating small white cabbage butterfly caterpillars, any idea if it emits any scent which indicates its poisonous or not edible or is it its colours?

i don't know much about Lepidopterans but i know that some caterpillars are poisonous to eat, and can taste very bad or emit bad tasting\smelling chemicals. if i were you, i'd just stick to the stuff you know works

You don't want to clean up the mess they'd leave anyway. I've heard that 'pillars sort of "pop" when a spider grabs them, leaving 'pillar goo all over the place.

I'd just feed them crickets, wax worms are okay imo, grasshoppers, soft shelled cockroaches, etc. That's my opinion. But yeah.
