I'm not sure the species but I collected them in central florida.

Two male Hogna's. At least one (the one doing the courting) is an adult.
Looks like H. lenta, or in the lenta group.

Yeah, as soon as the one male 'told' the adult to 'back off', hence the quick retreat!
