Well, I did it....
I put 3 subadult A.avics in a 20gal terarium with plenty of hide spots. Now if I only had a digital camera... It LOOKS awesome, and I'm REALLY hoping they'll co-exist without deciding to go at each other. They're all well fed and each enjoying a cricket to themself even as I'm typing this.... so far, so good. I just can't wait to see if it pans out and I wind up with eggsacs at some point in the future!
Interestingly enough, I already had one of these A.avics, and bought 3 more today, but one of the new ones doesn't look like an A.avic....:? It's much closer to brown than black, and has white tipped hairs. I'm still looking at pics to try to detemine if it looks significantly like any other type of Avicularia common on the market. Until identified, I'm keeping it seperately.
On another note, my recently mated G.rosea has displayed an extreme change in temperment, hopfully indicating that she is now gravid?
She's normally very laid back about feeding and never chases her crix. Today I tossed about 5 or 6 in and she went NUTZ!! She was actually running around with her fangs full chasing down the closest of them, and to get the last one she even dropped the rest in her effort to chase it down, then took it back to the pile to add to her little feast! It was a real show!
