So, I'm just wondering aloud here. Can a WC B. vagans that was caught in Florida be considered CB? Because they came from the hobby or zoos most likely. Just wondering.:}

Well it is still caught in the wild.. plus there is no definite way to tell if the caught specimen is a new generation unless they were introduced fairly recently (since the new generation would not be very old.)

Also there is no way to tell if the B. vagans were originally wc.

The point of making the distinction is, among other things, to illustrate that the animal has no wild parasites, has the type of behavior one would expect from a CB (believe me, there is a difference) and to show that no wild populations are being depleted (indiginous OR otherwise). In the Florida scenario you reference none of those conditions can be met so why would you call it CB? It's not.

Yup, agreed.

That is my interpretation of what CB ( captive bred ) means and what I believe the purpose of that label is for.

Their genetic line may have started with a Hobby animal... but just as likely it might have been a WC female.
