As far as it is known, they typically live 1, maybe 2, years total. They live fast, die young, and leave a lot of eggs! The short life span combined with the failure (so far) to captive breed them has resulted in them not being too popular in the hobby. Most of those in the pet trade are collected at their largest size, which are also the oldest and subsequently nearest death.
