I removed my A. aurantia from her web, which was guarding her 4 eggsacs. She is doing well, after giving me her 5th, but I have noticed that a barn spider has taken up residence....will she hurt the other sacs? She has positioned herself right in the middle of them, and I am worried. I am more of an expert on warm blooded things, and I know that some species will destroy others young to insure that theirs will survive. Is this true with inverts?? Does she even notice them? And if so, would she know it was from another species of spider? Would that matter to her at all?? I'm I just being an idiot, or ignorant??

Spiders are oppertunistic, if it senses it as food, yes it will. Usualy the Mother lays the egg sac in a guarded spot and does not leave them, you've changed this due to capativity. I would remove the new "wanna be mom" better safe then sorry
