hey guys well yesterday i picked up a cambridgei from an expo and what a cute little gal she is. well all was well yesterday. i handled her and saw no damage at all. after that i fed her a cricket and she merked it with no problem. while she was eating i decided to put a small piece of bark in her enclosure for web support. well today i was taking her out to get some pics and i noticed there was a clear liquid coming from her back left leg. my guess is that she cut it on the bark but i just really want to know if she will be ok. i really hope i dont find her dead on me. heres a pic...

please let me know if she will be ok:(

If it's still oozing you can take a little cornstarch or flour and put a little bit on the wound. That should clot it up. If it's already done oozing, then you shouldn't have to do anything.:)

That does not look like a P. cambridgei to me, it looks like a P. irminia.

P. cambridgei

P. irminia

I have never had a T leaking fluids before, so I cannot offer advice for the injury. However, thought I should post comparison pics for you.:D

curiousme,

They both look the same at that size.

This is a P. cam, produced by me:

I want to second that they both look the same at that size, and that if the leaking has stopped she should be fine.

Congrats on the new T! :)

We must have completely missed that stage of development! Ours never had the white stripes on the legs and that picture is after its first molt with us.:) I was trying to mentally gauge a size comparison and thought that his looked about the size of ours in that picture.

Well, there's my new fun fact for today!:D

Here's the same P. cam I linked earlier, taken a couple days ago. She's on the left, next to her mom. :)

Sorry about pic quality.

This is how similar they look when they are tiny..

Lamb was in heavy premolt, so his markings are a bit faded.. but you get the idea!

Thank you, I feel a bit silly, but we must have just missed that coloring phase. I know we bought our P. cambridgei as a bigger sling........

To OP ~ I hope the leaking has stopped and your new pet is fine. Our P. cambridegei is one of my favorites!

No reason to feel silly! :) There's always more to learn!

I can't wait for my cambridgei slings to ditch this colouration though! lol

They're up there with some of the fastest growers. Mine have eaten up until a day before they molt too when they were slings. After seeing that last pic on the bottom of your post I'm still leaning toward it being an irminia. The abdomen markings seem to have the color of an irminia sling. Maybe I'm crazy. Who knows?

Cambridgei and irmania look almost identical up to a certain point, i have a cambridgei myself and its an AWESOME T however i think yours is getting to that point where i am leaning towards a Irmania sling, either way, they are both winners in my opinion, good luck with the leak! your sure it wasn't from her mouth? mine did that at first and i totally freaked out, after i put put a post up, some gentle men where kind enough to inform me that it was simple some droool, who would have thought that huh. well anyways good luck :)

Don't feel silly. I thought the same thing and I have kept several P. cambridgei and bred them once but it's been a few years, lol. It does look identical to my current P. irminia sling. Either way Psalmopoeus is an awesome genus. The little guys will grow so much within the next 6 months, it's not even funny!

her leg is looking better. just fed her a cricket with no hesitation to pounce on it. these are great eaters. for those undecided whether irminia or cambridgei i guess ill have to wait for a molt or 2 to actually decipher.

70'sshow~ Your sling has a darker cephalothorax than our P. irminia do. Also, if you look at xhexdx and Teal's photos their P. cambridgei does as well, whereas Teal's P. irminia does not. My bet is that you do have a P. cambridgei.:D

Our P. cambridgei is a voracious eater and has grown incredibly fast. We got her in 11 '08 and she is now in her adult enclosure and 4+".

I am glad the leg is looking better and at this point I would think you are past any danger.
