Wild Rosy boa

i caught a wild rosy boa. i was so happy i have a cut 5 gallon drum i put it in till i got home. when i put it in there i noticed it started like freaking out like most wild snakes do and i then i stopped i touched it and it was sticky with that stinky stuff most snakes have. i figured it had rubbed that all over its body and was faking dead. then i realized it had been faking dead for 2 days. how did it die is my ?

I dont know what sticky stuff you're talking about since none of mine have that (maybe you mean like how garter snakes have some kind of musk glands or something to that sort). I have 2 rosy boas (among other boas) and they never have any sticky or smelly stuff on them.Maybe it was some kind of posion or chemical it got into, and it killed it?

sorry just noticed this. What did the drum hold before you put the snake in? thinking it maybe got something on it from the inside of that, as it just started freaking out when you put it in there...because I heard people say that wild rosys dont usually bite or freak out when you pick them up, they just try to hide/or get away. Was the snake covered with this stuff when you first picked it up? Or after it was in the drum?

It was just musk. They use it as a deterant to predators as it smells and tastes bad (though I don't know about the tasting from first hand experience)
It could have died from a variety of things. Shock, old age, illness, heat stroke, parasites. The only way to be fairly sure would be a necropsy, but I'm afraid it's too late for that.

i couldnt figure out the name musk lol. and it was a water drum so only water was in it. and im thinkin maybe shock. and i still feel reallyu bad bout it dying like that
