How aquatic are Corn Snakes?
Today, we were fishing in the Kaskaskia River (Southern Illinois) and we saw a snake sitting on the edge with it's head above water. Looking through the already brown water, the snake appeared light brown with darker brown blotches going down it's back.
It had a head shape similar to a kingsnake, in my opinion. But my dad wanted to jump the gun (Always does it.) and say it was a copperhead. Now, I've never seen a Copperhead in real life, but looking through all of the pictures, they seem to have more of a stripe pattern than a blotchy pattern.
So, aside from a corn snake, anyone know what else it may have been based on my rather poor description?
