I am by no means a scorpion guy but I have captured (then released) wild scorpions in the Santa Rosa area and where I used to live, in the Sacromento area. Not sure of the species but I found them nearest to the Sacromento River in the summer months under the larger river rocks off the banks. I found TONS under rocks in near-by dried up creek beds too. This was before I was in the invertebrate hobby a few years ago and all I remember was that they were small and brown lol

From searching, it is said Pseudouroctonus minimus thompsoni, Uroctonites montereus, and Uroctonus mordax mordax are native here in Santa Barbara, CA. If I go hiking this weekend i will take pics if i find any scorps ^^

I have one wild caught scorpion. I used to live in Shasta Lake City, CA. I believe this scorpion was caught with it's buddy towards the Cottonwood area.

Do the scorpions look like this one but not as fat? It is around 2"

that's U mordax all right. i've found them fat like that and more slender before... i'm not sure if the're well fed, gravid or dimorphic but maybe someone with a little more exp can fill us in.

yeah it is likely gravid. it is common to see "fat" scorps in captivity due to over feeding, but usually when you see one that chunky out in the wild it is gravid.

What the hell man. I live in l.a
it's nothing against LA, i just dont like big cities... BUT i do like them if i have a friend there that knows their way around town. i just hate getting lost and getting finding myself in a bad neighborhood.

where do you guys meet up/collect?
