wierd looking smart spider

I am fairly new to this site and this arachinid captured my attention. I found it in my garage. It can play dead and has a very small thorax. It doesnt appear to spin webs and may not infact be a spider. So anyone got any ideas?

i will try to get a pic but this spider is kinda jumpy and fasht as lightning

MANY spiders "play dead" when threatened, including Widow spiders, American House Spiders, Crevice Spiders, and several others. It would be helpful if you gave a lot more information, such as YOUR locale, for instance, along with the color, pattern(if any) and size of the spider. You said it doesn't build a web, so does it retreat behind a crack between boards, or other objects, or just run around out in the open?
