that's awesome. Don't you have a widow yourself?

Would have been more interesting to see how that happened.

That's awesome!! I've seen widows take down large grasshoppers but I never thought they'd be able to take down a snake!

That is unreal. I wouldn't have believed it if you hadn't had pics!

Uggg, how many times am I gonna see those photos...

Don't believe everything you see! The snake was already dead or incapacitated when given to the widow. It is highly unlikely that a snake of that size would allow a widow to get near it. Even if the widow bit the snake, the snake would get away and possibly die later somewhere. It is obvious this was in an enclosure of some sort.

Hi guys,

I got this in an email a year ago (I guess), and it looks to me like the snake was at least severly wounded (if not dead) before it's encounter with the spider. There is a large, gaping wound in it's side in one picture.

http://sheepmania.com/scribbly/pics/redback_snake.html

It does though show that these spiders arn't averse to taking larger reptiles if the opportunity presents itself. Although the web is inside a house, I don't know that it's in an enclosure/pet.

(I know, I know, it's not a red-back at all... mia culpa :))

It has made a nice cute packet of that snake lol
I like to watch them wrapping their lunch. And that lunch is at least big enough.
